Your Motorcycle Tour on the Carretera Austral

Day 1 - Puerto Montt - Transfer to Puerto Varas
We arrive in Puerto Montt. The biggest city in Southern Chile is well connected and is easily reachable via Santiago from any overseas origin.
For the night we stay in Puerto Varas, about 45 min North of Puerto Mont where we will meet the team, get to know our bikes and get ready for our adventure. During our welcome dinner you have time to meet your fellow travellers and get more insights on the route to come.
Day 3 -
Hornopirén - Chaitén
At 10:00 AM in the morning we are staring our journey with embarking the ferry to Chaitén. The interesting ferry trip connects via a short island transfer for about 5 hours to Caleta Gonzalo. From there we have an interesting gravel road ride that gets us to Chaitén where we will stay for the night.
Day 5 -
Puyuhuapi to Puerto Aysén
One of our favourite days on the road. We are crossing the stunning highlands around the Enchanted Forest. After a bit of work on some gravel sections of the road we can enjoy the perfect ride in higher altitudes and the stunning views on the surrounding mountains. Many waterfalls will invite us to stop and enjoy the magic of nature.
Day 7 -
Villa Cerro Castillo to Puerto Rio Tranquillo
We have now been more than a week on the road and its time for a rest. Today we reach Puerto Rio Tranquilo where we - as the name suggest - will take it very slowly. A last 120 km ride brings us through a stunning stretch of mountain sections to the small town at the Lago General Carrera that connects Chile with Argentina. The Argentinians call it Lake Buenos Aires by the way.
Day 9 -
Puerto Rio Traquilo to Cochrane
With this we have the last 350 km of the Carretera Austral ahead of us, but we will take time and enjoy them in three wonderful days. The first section gets us to the Lago Cochrane where we will stay in small houses in direct lake proximity. Before lighting up the BBQ we enjoy a ride to the shores of the lake and enjoy the views and take photos for the beloved ones at home.
Day 11 -
Caleta Tortel - Villa O' Higgins
Today is the day.
The final push. The last stretch of one of the wildest roads on this planet.
We ride out of Caleta Tortel and head south — deeper, further, until there is simply no more road left to take. We reach Villa O’Higgins…
and then go even a little beyond — to the official end of the Carretera Austral.
This is it.
No more kilometers. No more south.
Time to stop the engines.
Time for pictures.
Time to take it in — what you’ve just done.
Because not many make it here.
And even fewer do it on two wheels.
Tonight, we celebrate the only way this road deserves.
We invite you to a magical Patagonian Gaucho BBQ — fire, meat, stories, and that feeling of having earned every single kilometer.
And we make it official.
You’ll receive your Wild Tracks Moto Certificate — proof that you were one of the riders who faced this road, embraced it, and made it all the way to the end.
A piece of paper, yes.
But more than that — a reminder of a road that is raw, historic, and unforgettable.
And now… you are part of it.
Day 13
Cochrane to Chile Chico
We don’t just turn around.
We take the long way.
Leaving the Carretera Austral behind, we head east towards the Argentinan border — chasing a different line through Patagonia.
We ride along the southern shores of Lago General Carrera — or Lago Buenos Aires, as it’s known across the border.
A raw stretch of dirt road awaits.
Remote, scenic, and just technical enough to keep things interesting.
By the end of the day, we roll into Chile Chico — a small village with big views across the lake.
A perfect stop on a route that refuses to be predictable.
Day 2 -
Puerto Varas - Hornopirén
Today, we’re taking a ride along the beautiful Llanquihue Lake. It’s going to be a fun day as we familiarise ourselves with the bikes and soak in the views from Volcano Osorno.
This is a gentle start into our riding adventure, allowing us to warm up and for the real ride ahead. We also hit the Carretera Austral for the first time and it takes us to the ferry terminal of Hornopiren. Here we prepare us for our long boat ride which will take us through the beautiful waters of the Canal Cholgo.
Day 4 -
Chaitén to Puyuhuapi
Today's journey takes us through Parque Nacional Pumalin Douglas Tompkins, a breathtaking 715,000-acre nature and conservation area featuring rainforests, mountains, and hiking trails. We will cross the thrilling Puente Rio Yelcho, a stunning cable-stayed bridge surrounded by the magnificent Patagonian landscape, before concluding our ride in Puyuhuapi, a charming town offering beautiful lake views.
Day 6 -
Puerto Aysén to Cerro Castillo - Excursion
Today’s ride takes us from the coastal fjords of Puerto Aysén deep into the heart of Patagonia.
We leave behind the coastal air and climb steadily inland.
This is a day of contrasts.
From green to rugged. From soft to sharp.
And then, it appears: The jagged skyline of Cerro Castillo rises ahead — raw, dramatic, and impossible to ignore. One of those places that doesn’t need words.
We settle into Villa Cerro Castillo, right at the foot of these peaks.
And for those who still have energy left — and if weather and timing are on our side — there’s the option for an excursion
Day 8 -
Puerto Rio Traquilo - Day off
Today is not about distance — it’s about discovery.
A day to slow down, or better… to go deeper.
Here in Patagonia, “rest day” doesn’t mean standing still.
It means choosing your own adventure.
Will you ride out to the surreal blue formations of the Marble Caves, where water and stone have shaped something almost unreal?
Or head into the wild heart of the fjords towards Laguna San Rafael, where glaciers meet the sea and silence hits different?
This region doesn’t offer one highlight — it offers many.
And today, you choose yours.
We’ll line up the options.
You just follow what calls you.
Day 10 -
Cochrane - Caleta Tortel
Today we are following the stunning nature along the Rio Baker to the small village of Tortel. Tortel is famous for its intricate network of wooden walkways that connect the town's houses, shops, and public spaces. Since the town is built on a steep slope and surrounded by water, the walkways are the primary mode of transportation and offer a fascinating, picturesque way to explore.
Day 12
Villa O' Higgins to Cochran
Villa O’Higgins — the end of the road. Or maybe just the beginning.
At Villa O’Higgins, the road runs out. No more kilometers south. No more Chilean mainland to conquer. From here, there’s only one way left — north. But turning around doesn’t mean going back.
It means seeing it all again… differently.
The light hits new angles.
The mountains reveal faces you missed.
Rivers run beside you instead of against you. Same road. New story. And today, we stretch it.
A longer riding day. More time in the saddle. More distance, more focus — a different kind of challenge for a crew that has already proven they belong out here. This is where it shifts.
From exploring… to owning the road.
Day 14
Chile Chico to Coyhaique
One last ride. One last stretch of wild road.
After a beautiful ferry ride corssing the Lago Gen. Carrera we roll towards Coyhaique — the place where this journey officially comes to an end.
But not before one more night together.
Tonight, we celebrate.
We share stories from the road — the good, the hard, the unforgettable.
We laugh about the moments that tested us… and the ones that made it all worth it.
This is where it all comes together.
Tomorrow morning, your transfers are arranged to Balmaceda Airport.
Flights will take you home — but part of this ride will stay with you.
Because this was never just about the destination.
It was about the road… and the people you rode it with.
